How is it already time for back-to-school?! It’s back again and I am so excited to tell you guys all about an event I attended this past Saturday. It’s called the Belk DIY Denim Bus Tour. When I heard about this event, I knew it was going to be fun, but I didn’t know just how fun it would be. I cannot get over how cute this whole event was! I’m going to go over all the details and then share some back-to-school denim shopping tips at the end of this post. Enjoy all of the fun photos throughout as well.
Belk’s DIY Denim Bus Tour Experience happens at multiple Belk locations, and my local event was held in Columbia at the Belk located at 100 Columbiana Centre Cir, Columbia, SC 29212. I took tons of photos while we were there, so you will get to see everything we did. The inside of the bus was completely decked out! The decor, the staff and the endless options for customizing were all amazing. They had candy, chalk, coloring and lots of photo worthy spots. So much thought and design went into this event and it shows. Major props to Belk’s team for putting this together.
Here’s how the DIY Denim Bus Tour Experience works: You pick out and buy denim at Belk, then you get to create your own denim design piece with iron-on patches at the one of a kind DIY Denim Bus. I brought my oldest daughter with me to this event for a little mommy-daughter time, and we had a blast! First, we headed into Belk and picked out some really cute back-to-school outfits together. We each got tops, shoes, denim jeans and super cute denim jackets. We took our purchased Belk denim outside to the DIY Denim Bus and decided to decorate our denim jackets. The staff had some really cute designs hanging up throughout the bus, which served as great inspiration for our own denim designs.
The Belk DIY Denim Bus has SO MANY fun, unique patches. Unicorns, dinosaurs, flamingos, and so much more! They also had letters, so we decided to put those on our jackets, too! I think our denim jackets turned out so cute and it was an experience we will always remember. My daughter starts kindergarten this year, so this was such a cool way to kick off her first back-to-school experience.
I remember shopping for denim with my mom every year when I was preparing for a new school year. There’s just something about fresh pairs of denim that feel so good! I think looking and feeling your best for a new year is important because you want to feel confident and open to learning new things. Shop the Sales
Of course you want to get the best deal when you’re shopping for anything. Belk is having all kinds of sales on back-to-school clothing, backpacks, etc. so we went ahead and stocked up since there were great deals. My suggestion is to make a game plan before you go shopping. Check out Belk.com and see what you like ahead of time and try on those items when you’re in store.
Sizing
Depending on when your child(ren) starts school and the climate where you live, you may need to think ahead about sizing. For example, my daughter doesn’t go back to school for another month and we also live where it stays warmer longer than other places. I went ahead and bought her jeans a little bit big so that when she really needs them, they will be her size.
Buy Double
If you find a pair of jeans you love, get two! This is something I always do when I find a really good fit. I do this for the kids, too. Sometimes that perfect pair of denim comes in multiple washes, which is even better! Like I said, there’s just something about a good pair of jeans, so when you find some you love, stock up.
